
H: Honesty
Honesty is always telling the truth, no matter how hard it may be. Give some examples. Honesty builds trust. Explain how not being honest makes people not trust you.
E: Empathy
Empathy is feeling the way someone feels even if you aren't in the same situation. Example: feeling sad with a friend just because he or she is sad. Explain how empathy develops compassion and care for other people.
R: Respect
Respect means having good manners and being kind to adults and kids. Give examples of being respectful as well as being disrespectful.
O: Optimism
Optimism is the belief that things will turn out well or that there is always hope for something good to happen. Talk about not focussing on the bad things that could happen, but on the good instead.
I: Integrity
Integrity means doing the right thing when no one is watching. Give some examples like returning a lost item to its owner rather than keeping it.
C:Community
Community is the idea anything can be accomplished faster and better by working together. Think of some examples to share with the kids.
